Volcano Science ProjectI cannot tell you how many times we have made this volcano science project and yet, every time it is a winner! We first did this project when we went to visit friends. I had seen it many times in books, but it looked like a lot of work, so we never did it. After seeing it done, I realized just how easy and effective it is! It is also an inexpensive afternoon of explosive fun! We used a baking tray, and placed an old jam jar on top of an upside down cereal bowl, to give the volcano a bit of height.
Then pour vinegar into the jar, until it is about halfway full, and add a little red or orange food colouring. Now let each child take turns to add a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to the vinegar mixture and there you have it!
