Tips for Flat TravelersHere are some handy tips for flat travelers that we have picked up on our adventures: TIP 1We were very eager to get started and ended up with five travelers here at once. Many families like having lots of travelers, however, we found that it would have been easier to host one or two at a time. It is easier to "travel" with one and take lots of photos and then put together a really nice journal and a few momentoes together. Also, when your flat arrives back home, you can really enjoy reading about his or her adventures and doing a few projects about the country they visited.TIP 2Put your name and address and e-mail address on the back of your traveler. It is easy to misplace those details!TIP 3Take the age of the child or children whose flat you are hosting and make the brochures and goodies you send back appropriate.TIP 4If possible try to send some stickers, pencils, magnets or some type of small momento back with your visitor- just for fun!It does not have to be expensive. Postcards are also nice as you can make a scrapbook with them.TIP 5When you find a nice brochure or some info about your city or country collect a few and keep them in a box or drawer, so that you have them handy for your next traveler.TIP 6Cut out some newspaper articles of things that happened while your visitor was with you. Our beach was closed to the public due to the sighting of a saltwater crocodile during a flat's visit here! Even a weather report is fun to include!TIP 7Include a recipe of a dish that is unique to your country, or even just your families favourite meal.TIP 8Children love to learn about the local fauna and flora, so include some fun facts about the animals and flowers found in your country or town.TIP 9My children love it when their flats bring home some coins from the country they have visited- another easy thing to include. We just tape ours onto a small piece of cardboard.TIP 10Have fun!Back to Geography for Kids from Tips for Flat Travelers |
